About

About the Blog:

The title for my blog comes from the anime Bakemonogatari.  It’s derived from when one of the characters (Hitagi Senjōgahara) talks about the kanji meaning “fascination” and how she is waiting for it to be introduced and used in the next generation of Japanese (or so I guess) to make phrases like “[insert topic here] fascination.”  So I substituted anime in for the topic to create the blog title.

About the Banner:

It’s a scene Madoke Kaname waking up in the morning (so cute!) from Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

About Shadow:

I would say that the first exposure I got to anime came from American Saturday morning cartoons when I was a kid: Pokemon, Digimon, Medabots, and the like.  Adult Swim was what really got me into following and watching more mature anime.  In fact, the first anime I followed outside the kid-oriented shows was Blue Gender, an average (at best) sci-fi anime.  At the same time I picked up on Cowboy Bebop and Trigun, which was what I would consider the starting point of my anime watching career.  This was about 2003, and it was 2008 that I started following what was immediately coming out of Japan.  In between that time I really just watched Adult Swim shows and various anime films I rented.  In August 2009, I started this blog as a way to talk about anime when I ran out of other things to do.

I’m was previously a guest writer over at Panther’s blog, The Deathseeker, under the same nick (Shadow).
